Pretty, Noisy, Unwanted, Hated

Before I share the stories behind today’s images, I want to state how discouraging it is to see our topsoil blowing to who knows where in these relentless strong winds. A heavy haze in the sky from our precious blowing dirt is troubling. Maybe we can get some rain to hold things in place if the wind is going to continue blowing like this.

Earlier today, before the wind picked up, I found another location for shooting star wildflowers. I thought a backlit view might be something different than the typical front lit shot (seen below).

At our cabin I had a house wren keeping me company. Actually, the little bird was claiming an area of my yard - an area where I had to move through. The little bird is going to have to share my space with me and other visitors.

I am hoping this critter moves a section or two away, instead of toward our house as when I first saw it. We are not welcoming to woodchucks. When I pointed my Nikon at the whistle pig it headed north/northwest. I am sure there is better groundhog habitat in that area!

Finally, another dang tick found me. This one was firmly attached and took a bite of flesh with it as I removed it. After removal the tick received what all ticks on me get - a warm welcome while wrapped in toilet paper that is on fire as i wait for the tick to explode.
