It’s the Little Things

It’s the little things, like spending a couple of hours enjoying lunch and sharing conversation about birds and Spring with a friend facing a huge challenge.

It’s the little things, like spotting and photographing Mayapple blossoms in full view for this growing season.

It’s the little things, like finding baby golden oyster fungi on a log, with more mature fungi all around the babies.

It’s the little things, like a Walmart sack I always carry with me for those special times when I find fungi of the edible type.

It’s the little things, like sharing your fungi with your loved ones.

It’s the little things, like dozens of mosquitos swarming and biting you when you find little things, like golden oyster fungi.

It’s the little things, like carrying two cans of bug spray and neither of them or a mix of both cannot put a dent in the skeeters attacking you.

It’s the little things, like fast walking through the woods, away from the flowers and fungi, to your truck to escape the big little mosquitos that found you.

It’s the little things, like that secure sound of the door shutting and the skeeters being on the outside of the windows, except for the three or four dozen flying around in the closed truck with you.

It’s the little things, like the skeeter massacre held as they flew against the windshield and you smashed them.

It’s the little things, like the breeze that kicked up later in the morning that slowed the mosquito assault.

It’s the little things, like the wind speed multiplying factor of x10 or x15 to that gentle breeze that made walking upright a challenge.

It’s the little things, like 45-mph winds that kept the mosquitos away so you could work outside.

It’s the little things that make each day different and special. I hope you were able to enjoy the little things of today!
