Had My Hopes Up, Then Down

When I am fortunate to be in the proximity of a bird or wildflower I am not familiar with, I get excited that maybe I am seeing a “lifer…” - a species I have not knowingly observed before. Such was the case this morning when I spotted a yellow/green bird with a very dominant beak.

At home my research Identified the small bird as a yellow-throated vireo. Oh boy… was this a “new to me” bird - a “lifer?”

Well, it is a good thing I maintain a database of my images and observations. No, this was not a life bird for me. But, it was a species I had only seen three time previous today. So, it was still special… just not a life bird.

In addition to the yellow=throated vireo I photographed some wildflowers. Like the vireo, I have see and photographed each wildflower species shown here.
