Critters at the Cabin

Very early this morning I was enjoying quiet time at our cabin. Every now and then the clouds overhead allowed the sun to shine through. Birds were calling from nearly every tree - birds of gray, birds of orange, birds of yellow, birds of black and white, and birds of blue.

For the better part of an hour I only watched the birds. Even though my camera was nearby, I simply enjoyed the sunrise songs and flashes of color. Then it happened… I had to set up my camera to record some of the activity with my focus being bluebirds. I hope you find an image you like!

As I was preparing to leave the cabin I noticed two long-legged insects clinging to the siding. My research shows the critters were crane flies. It so happened these crane flies were making more crane flies. I photographed them for many minutes. When I eventually packed my gear away, the lovin’ was still going on. I suppose when you have a lifespan of 10-15 days and you mate once in your life, you make the best of it.
