Turtle Talk (and more)

This morning a question I have had before came to me again. How do turtles communicate, as in when multiples gather to sun in the same spot? As I was photographing the painted turtle completely out of the water I noticed the head of a second turtle. I watched as the upper turtle looked down toward the nearly submerged turtle. The scene appeared to be turtle talk.

Do they communicate with low-frequency calls, vibrations, or something else? I guess I have research to do.

Later I found a killdeer nest with two eggs. I will keep watching this to see more eggs (hopefully) and eventually young killdeer running around.
