Another Migrant Arrived

According to Internet sources, the autumnal migration is underway. From a local “paddle on the water” perspective, I agree. Yesterday I saw the osprey catch a northern pike. Today I share a pied-billed grebe photo recorded when the grebe was in a nice setting.

I want to explain that some successful pied-billed grebe reproduction has happened locally (I have pictures!). But, where I saw this grebe I have not seen a grebe since early spring. I believe this to be a migrant - maybe not from too far away, but it did move into the area recently.

Another bird image shared is a great blue heron giving me the stink-eye. No, I do not consider this a migrating bird. This heron was one of three or four regular visitors to my paddling area.
