Doors Opened and Doors Closed
As I often do, this morning I listened to my daily Bible devotions/Bible study while out in nature. I find the combination very soothing and generally a great way to start a new day.
The topic today was how God opens and closes doors for us - sometimes when we ask, other times without us knowing. I pondered the devotion as I did poorly again at fishing. You might wonder how the two are tied together. Allow me to explain.
It is no secret that I take my photography interests very serious. As much as I would like to share my photography passion with my grandkids, the reality is they prefer to go fishing. I understand that… I was a kid once. With their shorter attention spans, I want to make any fishing outings interesting enough that each grandchild stays involved. To do that I have been scouting area lakes/ponds in search of fast action with “keeper” fish. I have found fast action, but the fish were too small and it is a catch and release body of water.
If today’s devotion is applicable to my efforts, is the door nearly closed on me being a good enough angler that I can take the kids to a local pond and find fish? Is the door opened quite wide to me sharing the outdoor with them via nature photography, paddling, and hiking? Should I be good with catching and releasing small fish as I enjoy their excitement while I don’t have to clean fish (but we also miss out on fish fries)?
Maybe I am thinking about this too deep. Perhaps I just go fishing, carry my camera, blend the two as well as I can and enjoy the moments?
While out fishing (note - I did not say catching), I did shoot pics with my GoPro (shared below). I also recorded a video while I was fishing. See it by clicking on this link:
