Dragonfly Identification Struggle

From what I can tell, we are at the peak of dragonfly season. Area wetlands have so much dragonfly and damselfly activity going on that it is hard to concentrate on an individual dragonfly. As I watch them, my attention diverts back and forth. They keep me busy and challenged!

Learning the species identification of dragonflies has not been easy. About the time I get the main dragonflies learned, their population goes down and I quickly get rusty. Was it a blue dasher, a pond hawk, or something else? I am in the middle of the dragonfly identification struggle. As long as they continue to allow me to watch them at close range, I will try to learn their species.

Today I am featuring only blue dasher dragonflies.
