Wetland Safari

Sometimes, instead of a longer distance hike or a challenging climb, I can find enough to satisfy my unending curiosity by slowing down and intently studying one small area. Such was my course of nature study action this morning. I explored briefly on the water followed by an even shorter time spent along the edge of cattails.

As has happened before, I found plenty of photo subjects that challenged my ability to document them in creative compositions - decent lighting, controlled depth of field, and subject isolation to feature the topic of the images. I was amazed by so much activity in such a small space. And, I had walked past this area a dozen times before I slowed down. What else have I missed?
