Calm Water… Exploding Water

Some water is calm and some water is not so calm.

When water is hosting a quiet trumpeter swan, a coot, or a pair of sleepy mallards that put only minimal effort into watching me, the water is smooth and relaxing.

If the water is hosting the almost always skittish blue-winged teal, water transitions from calm to exploding as the teal take flight in a split second. The following images all happened in under a second or two of time. Thank goodness for some luck photographing these escaping birds.
