Ideas in Mind

Seldom do I go out with very specific photography ideas in mind. Usually I just go with the flow, taking advantage of whatever I might see. Today though, I wanted to find at least on nice composition featuring a dogtooth violet (trout lily).

Success came quickly and often since the woodland is decorated with so many wildflower species in good numbers. In fact, get out soon if you want to see a carpet of wildflowers.

Following is a sampling of my dogtooth violet (trout lily) images from today.

I found some interesting fungi too. The common name for these (I believe) is “pig’s ears.” Each was growing with enough energy to push last autumn’s leaves out of the way.

While I was going to minimize how many other flower and fungi images I recorded today, I did get carried away. I will try to feature only my favorite of each species.

Finally, early this morning I noticed two turkey vultures on an outbuilding roof. As I was watching them, one turned and spread its wings.
