Embrace the White

I don’t know of too many people who would rather have a winter snowstorm rather than the unseasonably mild conditions we enjoyed early this past week. Since we can’t do anything about the weather, I opted to enjoy the fresh, bright white landscape rather than complain about it.

My first photo shows the snow sticking to the north side of the trees. According to what my mother-in-law told me, we have two more storms (from the north) and winter will be done. I hope she was right!

From a closer perspective, I studied frost early this morning. Even though it stayed cold all day, the frost vanished by mid-morning.

With snow covering so much of the landscape I found it easy to locate horned larks. Photographing them in a pleasing composition wasn’t as easy. I did shoot a couple of acceptable horned lark photos.
