An Unexpected Observation
While I was out looking for horned larks, Lapland longspurs, and snow buntings I was surprised to find an eastern meadowlark in winter.
Meadowlarks in the winter are not unheard of, but not often observed by most people. I consider myself lucky to find this meadowlark and even more lucky to manage to shoot an acceptable picture of this specific bird before it flew out of range.

A few miles from where I shot the meadowlark picture I found this lone tree. Of course I shot a photo. I then edited the image to remove color.
