Challenging Weather Conditions Make For Easier Horned Lark Images

As has happened many times, the worse the weather conditions the more likely I will come home with horned lark images. Today followed the trend with a ready supply of horned larks to attempt to get close enough for photos. I managed a few as shown here, all while remaining on the road and not stuck somewhere in snow.

So far I have not found any snow buntings or Lapland longspurs hanging out with the horned larks. I will keep watching for either species.

Moving around in the wind and snow were ring-necked pheasants. I managed only this photo of the colorful birds.

Since conditions were not too far from blizzard-like, I thought I better photograph the old barn down the road from us. That structure seems to look most photo-worthy under challenging winter conditions. This barn may look familiar. I have photographed it many times over the years.

For kicks and giggles I ran the barn image through my painter program. Following are a couple of versions of that picture.
