Excitement and Views at Big Woods Lake
Yesterday I was included in several social media discussions regarding a Canada goose with a fishing lure hooked to a foot. Eventually I was able to get to Big Woods Lake and worked with Jeremiah to find the goose and remove the fishing lure. Two treble hooks were on the lure with one penetrating the webbing beyond the barb. I clipped the hook and pulled both parts out of the foot. The other treble hook was poking a soft pad, but with minimal penetration. I just pulled that hook out.

Since the goose experienced only soft tissue wounds that appeared to be minimal, we released the goose. The goose quickly swam away with no apparent ill effects.

While I was at Big Woods Lake last night I saw quite a number of photogenic scenes. Since I was there to help a goose, I did not carry my good camera equipment with me in my canoe. This morning I returned to paddle and photograph some of those scenes. Obviously I did not see things exactly like last night, but I saw plenty. And after I was done paddling I still had plenty of energy so I walked the trail around the lake with my camera. As a result, I have a photo dump for you!
