How It Began
This view of my canoe on my dock was how my morning paddle began. Our morning sky was mostly covered by interesting clouds that reflected on very calm - almost mirror-like - water. With cool temperatures the conditions were pleasant since I was wearing a sweatshirt and jacket. The vocalizations of a thousand or more red-winged blackbirds, joined by brown-headed cowbirds and some rusty blackbirds, was the dominating sound. There was a sense of calm, yet so many loud birds certainly grabbed my attention. My watery exploration was one for the senses.

As I reviewed and prepped my photos for inclusion in this post, I realized that most of the images could be associated with a theme of ending, or decaying, or transitioning. My images feature fungi (decaying), migrant birds (transitioning), and autumn scenes/autumn leaves (ending). Hopefully you find something interesting.
All images except the canoe on the dock were from my canoe.
