Why I Am Glad I Was Not Born an Armadillo

Over the past days Kristy and I traveled a couple of states away. While there I went camera hunting for armadillos at night for three evenings. We heard more than we saw, but we saw enough. After seeing this armadillo at close range, I decided I am very happy I was not born an armadillo or I would have been the father/grandfather of very ugly offspring.

During our travels I did see other wildlife - particularly birds. Believe it or not, I finally saw and photographed a tufted titmouse. I know the tufted titmouse is relatively common, but I had not seen one until this past weekend. I saw other interesting birds too - featured here - except for the Carolina wrens we had around us.

For the first time I photographed an eastern fence lizard, yellow-shouldered fly, and dotted wolf spider too.
