Moments of Awe
Yesterday I read a study that indicated if or when people slow down and allow themselves to enjoy the little things often overlooked (Moments of Awe), folks tend to be happier, more relaxed, and subsequently healthier.
This morning I put what I read into practice when I hiked in heavy fog at Echo Valley State Park near West Union. Even without fog the park is a beautiful destination. With fog the ordinary appeared exceptional, with “awe moments” coming rapid fire with every turn on the trail.
Over the years I have mentioned many times my fascination with fog - other than when I am driving. Muted skies, muted colors, and even muted sounds are so inviting in a foggy atmosphere. Add the effect of fog making the ordinary appear mysterious and you probably understand why fog and photography are a good blend for me.
I recorded many images in the fog, but this view was my favorite.
